Ten convicted of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of circulating fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the husband and wife's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has not yet been published.
A longstanding unfounded claim claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's identity.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens ignored any factual proof that refuted her assertions opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
